Hernán Asorey
Co-Founder, AVC Turing
I’ve always been drawn to first principles, the kind that fuel discovery and rewire entire systems. Early in my career, I worked across industries and continents, building data platforms and analytic engines that transformed how organizations learn and act. But it wasn’t until I stepped into executive roles at Salesforce, Microsoft, and Google that I saw the full arc of what’s possible: how human potential, paired with AI, can scale in ways that still feel astonishing.
At Salesforce, I had the privilege of becoming the company’s first Chief Data Officer. We defined a modern data architecture, launched the Einstein AI platform, and embedded ethical, real-time intelligence into the customer-product loop. It was a masterclass in applying science to culture at scale, and it earned recognition from the World Economic Forum at Davos and a feature in Marc Benioff’s book Trailblazer (Chapter 5: Innovation). At Microsoft, I helped create the first business-ready generative AI experiences, working in partnership with OpenAI to build the earliest enterprise AI copilots and LLM-powered applications before the market had a name for them. That work culminated in landmark strategic alliances and breakthrough products across industries, from digital CFOs to in-product code generation. Most recently at Google, I led data science and engineering globally across some of the company’s most iconic products, shaping growth strategy and championing the modernization of how the company measures, experiments, and makes decisions at scale.
Today, my focus is squarely on what comes next: agentic AI architectures, foundation model deployment in the enterprise, and the deep organizational rewiring that companies need to truly operate as AI-native. I also bring this perspective to several boards and advisory roles, including as an Independent Board Member of Contentsquare, Head of Board of Advisors at Klaviyo (NYSE: KVYO), and board roles at Alation, Syncro, Faros AI, and Trebellar. In 2021, I was named to the HITEC 100 as one of the Top 100 most influential Hispanic professionals in technology.
Still, I kept returning to a single insight: some of the most extraordinary ideas, the ones with power to bend entire categories, live not in trillion-dollar companies, but in the minds of founders still building the first version. AVC was born to meet them where they are, especially those at the intersection of applied AI, critical infrastructure, and global relevance. As a founding partner, I bring more than pattern recognition; I bring lived experience: scaling data and AI organizations from zero to hundreds, designing generative AI systems before they were market terms, and knowing when to defy orthodoxy to do what’s right for users.
Across every role, I’ve remained a teacher at heart, from my early days as a university lecturer in Buenos Aires to mentoring next-gen operators and serving on advisory boards. I’m also a lifelong learner: a Stanford GSB alum, a diversity and inclusion advocate, and a proud Latin American voice in global tech.
I am fortunate enough to work on things that I love, but away from work, I find grounding and joy in spending time with my family, friends, and my pup Gala. Ultimately, learning new things and collaborating with kind, smart people are what I find most fulfilling.
